We live on the coast and I always just lay the baby on a towel under an umbrella but this thing would help to make sure sand doesn’t get kicked onto your baby. Happens to mine. lol.
try toyr us store or website . for tents or cabana. i personnally like this one :Lil Nursery – Portable Play Tent and Sun Shelter for infants and toddlers .
You could probably also take a bouncer and stick an umbrella over it. They make portable sun umbrellas that have points for sticking them in the ground.
your going to take your newborn to the beach?? lol goodluck with that……. i tried taking my daughter to a outdoor thing at 2mnths old and she was hot and miserable and cried for 2hrs until i left……. could just be my daughter but she HATES TO SWEAT, loves the outdoors but not when its hot.
Buy a nice, sturdy umbrella, stick it in the sand, and put a child and a giant towel under it! She can even shape the sand to prop him up if she wants, lol!
I was given one of those very basic “bouncy seats” hand-me-down from a friend – You find them a lot at thrift shops. I used that at the beach a lot, but I would do the classic umbrella-stuck-in-the-sand deal, because you can always reposition that according to the direction of the sun – nothing else will be all-covering and as sheltering for the eyes (glare) as well.
These two options were great because they were cheap$! and the baby will only use the bouncy seat for a few months before you HAVE TO put him/her on their tummy on the towel with a few toys around to look at. Just sitting does get boring for most babies as they get older, so tummy time or sitting time with toys is great… in a few months
How about this on a towel? http://www.rightstart.com/global/store/product~item~8416.html

How about just buying a beach umbrella?? Then you could take his swing or bouncer for him to lay in.

For an older baby a walker with an umbrella stuck in the sand (or clipped to the walker) works fairly well. Since you’re talking about a newborn — try a sun dome or cabana — similar to this: http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2319650&cp=3117449
