My pediatrician told us that all formula is pretty much the same. We had our sons on the BJ’s brand of formula (lg can powder about 18 dollars) never had any issues.
I myself have used parents choice over enfamil several times and it seems to work fine! Do you use gas drops and stuff like that? I would give it a try, it wont hurt and saves you money. Best luck
Check the label and see if the ingredients are the same. A lot of companies have brands made and labeled as their own. There should be a phone number on the can to call. With twins, cant you get on WIC?
well..your baby may be gassy BECAUSE of the formula…so you probably should switch. I had to change about 3 differents times, until I found one that worked for her. The only other one I have tried besides Enfamil is Nestly Good Start. It is about 3-4 dollars cheaper than enfamil, and works really well. If your baby is gassy…it is probably a good choice to go with because they have comfert proteins to help digest. Just try around, and I promise you will find one that works soon. congratulations on twins!!
You’re right they will drive you nuts if you let them! You have God given instincts so use them! What is trying the Wal-mart brand going to hurt? If it makes them gassier you can always change back. Don’t be so afraid, you aren’t going to hurt those babies!
Store brand is usually just as good as those expensive brands. I used Isomil on my kids. You can always buy the gas relief drops if it is a big problem. And always burp the baby a few times during feeding, it will help reduce the amount of gas discomfort your child has.
doctors are not always right. i changed my babys formula and nothing happened. why dont you give him MYLICON for the gasses. that makes them fart a lot but it helps them get rid of all the gas. theses are some pink drops and you can either give it to them alone or with water. just a little bit though. hoped i helped tyou in something.
Just a suggestion…
You can buy a lot of different coupons for Enfamil on eBay to help save money if you decide to buy the brand name. You can also sign up on their website and they will send you several coupons for $1-$5 off.
i think that the only difference is the brand names, they are pretty much the same, dont be scared to try something different, if your babies are gassy try giving them some of those gas drops that they sell at the store . thats what is helping us with our gassy newborn also we ended up using a lactose free formula for our two year old and he was never gassy again.
If you look closely at the cans you will find most store brands are made in the same factory as one of the major brands. They are essentially the same thing.
(Yes doctors know nothing about nutrition, let alone infant nutrition).
Parents Choice is alot cheaper but it is kinda you get what you pay for. I mean I understand you completely my son is on Nutramigen and it is half the size of the big can of Enfimil with Lipil and cost the same. I use about 15 cans a month and it is $22 at a time. Really expensive and I have tried switching my son to the parents choice and good start and they cause alot of problems with my son. He doesn’t really sleep alot when on them and it makes him constipated. So I would suggest trying to keep them on the Enfamil. If you can’t afford to like some us have been through so don’t be embarrassed you can contact your local WIC office and they will provide you with atleast 8 cans of formula per child a month or you can contact some local food pantries and they can help you with food for them. It is always safer to keep them on the same kind of formula that they are used to. It tends to upset their little stomachs
Sweetie, do yourself & those twins a huge favor by looking up the nearest La Leche League in your area.
They are experienced Moms who will help you work through this to your’s and the twin’s satisfaction.
Nothing like support for a new and first time Mom.
God’s blessings on you, take care.
Maybe you could cross-check the ingredients and nutrients in the formula to see how different they are. If they are similar, try the cheaper stuff. Just get one of the smaller cans to see how the baby responds to it. It doesn’t make sense to buy a big can and waste it if they don’t like it. If the gas is really bad, maybe you could talk to the doctor about changing to a soy formula if the gas is caused by a milk protein allergy. When I breastfed I had to cut out all dairy from my diet because both kids would get really gassy and cry from it. No, I didn’t formula feed, but I have friends who have and these are things they have tried. I would definitely look into WIC if you have it in your area. Good luck!
Yes, Parent’s Choice is the same exact ingredients and half the price….it can save you lots of money also…I used that my baby’s first year and she never had any problems with the milk. If i had coupons, then I would buy the name brand milk otherwise it would be Little One’s or Parent’s Choice or even Target brand milk.

Get a new doctor! You shouldn’t be left to worry about these sorts of things.
I told the midwives what I need in a pediatrician. All six recommended the same pediatrician. He is fantastic!
Go to somebody you know better, like the public health nurse, and get a recommendation.

God I hate people who criticize formula, SHUT UP! I couldn’t breast feed, and I have lived with guilt every day because of it.
To answer your question, we buy the Kirkland Signature brand from CostCo. Our 6 month old actually handles it better than the name brand formulas.
